A clinical health and community psychologist by training, her research
focuses on improving health outcomes and promoting well being among
ethnically diverse, underserved populations. She utilizes
community-based participatory research (CBPR) strategies to develop and
evaluate health promotion intervention trials and education campaigns.
With funding from the National Institutes of Health and other sources
for the past 20 years, she has served as principal investigator or
co-investigator on numerous grants both in the U.S. and abroad. Her
research with Pacific Islanders in Southern California has focused on
tobacco cessation, biospecimen education, and resilience and healthy
aging.
